New Zealand born founder Laura Lewis moved to Newcastle in April 2010. She immediately fell in love with the local artisan products and the sense of community. Never one to sit still, she decided to start her own business six months after the birth of her first child. She wanted to challenge herself and learn how to run a business.
Launching in 2014 as a small soy candle making company, Harper and Lulu quickly expanded to include a range of gift hampers.
“The Hunter Valley is full of these amazing artisan producers with high-quality products and customer service. People want local produce, they want to know where things have been made and who has made them. What we are doing is pulling together some of those great products and delivering them to people’s door.”
As well as homemade, paraben free soy wax candles and custom Tasmanian oak serving boards, the hampers include delicious treats from Lewis Estate Wines, Pork Ewe Deli, Cocoa Nib, Sprocket Roasters, Upper Hunter Smokehouse, Murray's Brewery and Duck Creek Macadamias. Laura is constantly on the lookout for new local businesses to partner with.
“We just launched the Pamper Hamper, with Humble Body Co.’s organic body scrubs, and we have a couple more hampers in the pipeline.”
