Nestled in the heart of Warners Bay, Canon has stood the test of time as a local favourite for casual dining by the lake. 

Formerly known as Blue Water Pizza, the venue has transformed into a destination that pays homage to its roots as a pizza restaurant while embracing new additions to the menu.

The two-level lakeside cafe, restaurant, and bar has just launched its new autumn menu alongside a few other exciting additions, like locals night and monthly wine dinners.

The first of these wine dinners, happening on March 28, features none other than award-winning Broke winery Margan Wines. You’ll get to chat to the winemaker, and enjoy a feast by Canon paired with Margan’s wines.

The team have also dusted off some old Blue Water Pizza menus and recipes and are bringing your favourites back – time to relive your youth and share the nostalgia with family and friends.

Canon's team of chefs boasts experience at venues as far as Byron Bay, the Gold Coast, and the Whitsundays, and even Darby Street's iconic The Bistro Restaurant, a spot that created lots of special memories for Novocastrians from the 1970s right through until the 2000s.

If you’re an early riser who loves a breakfast with lake views, Canon’s breakfast menu is sure to please. There’s plenty of classics to be had, like the colourful house-made bircher muesli or the double eggs benedict with rosti and house-made hollandaise, and favourites with a little extra something, like the breaky tacos or mushrooms with thyme and whipped feta.

At lunch and dinner time, the focus shifts to share-style dining with plenty of fresh, light dishes perfect for lakeside dining. Think plates like yellowfin tuna crudo, pumpkin bruschetta, and Bass Strait beef reserve sirloin, along with a selection of woodfired pizzas. If you really want to get into the sharing mood, groups of four or more can order the chef’s banquet for $69pp to taste a comprehensive selection from the menu, without worrying about what to choose.

While share plates feature on both the lunch and dinner menus, the star of the lunch menu however is the Panuozzo Napolitana – best described as the lovechild of pizza and a panini. Canon's house-made secret dough is wood-fired to perfection with fillings like pork belly porchetta, marinated mushrooms, chorizo, or a classic club. It’s a scrumptious Italian-inspired lunch option, especially if you’re on the go.

After a drink to pair with your meal? Canon offers plenty of craft beer on tap, local wines, and an extensive cocktail list.

And if you’re not dining in, don’t fret – plenty of items on Canon’s menu are available to take away via its app, like breakfast dishes, coffee, Panuozzo, and pizzas.
