Bocados

Newcastle’s only dedicated Spanish restaurant and tapas bar, Bocados has been providing the city with a taste of Spain for 15 years. Choose the Barcelona banquet ($75pp)  to sample classic Spanish dishes like paella and patatas bravas, or pick the San Sebastian banquet ($85pp) for dishes that are inspired by the region’s iconic gastronomy.

Ginger Meg’s

Ginger Meg’s feed me menu has to be some of the best value in Newcastle – for $60pp, try seven of the restaurant’s most popular dishes like prawn bao and beef massaman curry. There’s even a vegan version of the menu available for $65pp, so no one has to miss out on experiencing the fiery flavours of Ginger Meg’s.

Harrison’s

Chef Tony Harrison – AKA Harrison’s namesake – is one of Newcastle’s finest talents in the kitchen, so it makes sense to choose the chef’s banquet when you dine at his restaurant. For $75pp, it’s a curated experience that sees you sample dishes like paella arancini, baked scallops with a mornay gratin, and coq au vin.

Humbug

Humbug was awarded one chef’s hat in the 2024 Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide Awards, so eating as much of the menu as you can is a must-do when you dine at this fresh, fun Hunter Street restaurant. For $80pp, leave the decisions up to the kitchen and find yourself in culinary heaven.

Las Salsa Picante

The premise of Las Salsa Picante’s feed me menu is simple – try everything on the menu for $60pp until you tell the kitchen to stop. It’s a delightful journey through fresh, contemporary, Mexican-style food, with dishes like fried, marinated king brown mushrooms with crema and fried flathead tostadas mainstays on the menu. Pair with a margarita and you’re good to go.

Light Years Asian Diner

Light Years Asian Diner quickly became a favourite on the Newcastle dining scene after opening in 2021, and for good reason. Its modern Asian menu is punchy, fun, and flavoursome, meaning you’ll want to try as much as possible. Go for the chef’s selection menu for $69pp or the primo selection for $89pp to taste a host of Light Years favourites.

Limoo

Limoo’s banquet menus are excellent value for money, especially considering you can order them for a minimum of two people. Try the Full Iranian for $64pp, Limoo’s Feast for $59pp, or Iranian Vegetarian for $52pp – each include six dishes with hearty portion sizes, so you won’t go hungry. The best part? Each banquet includes crispy, syrupy baklava for dessert.

Martha

Martha’s feed me menu is one for the big group meals – for $59pp (minimum 12 people), taste dishes like zucchini feta fritters, fried calamari with salsa brava, and La Brasa chicken. Enjoying your feast while you admire Martha’s gorgeous interior (and spectacular views) is an unforgettable dining experience.

Nagisa

Nagisa is the home of upscale Japanese cuisine in Newcastle, and its banquet menus are an excellent way to make sure you sample plenty of its offering. Pick from the $75pp lunch banquet, the $85pp sharing banquet (great for bigger groups), or the $125pp tasting banquet, which explores some of Nagisa’s more premium dishes.

Oh My Papa

Get a taste of Oh My Papa’s extensive menu with its banquet options, which promise to fill your table with a curated selection of dishes to share spanning yakitori, small things, bigger plates, and sides. There’s the Feed Me, Papa for $60pp, the Feed Me, More for $75pp, and the Feed Me Vegetarian for $60pp, depending on how much food you’re after and your dietary requirements.

Peregrin

Perched atop The Beach Hotel sits Peregrin, a sophisticated restaurant offering modern Australian cuisine with global influences. The Taste of Peregrin banquet menu is particularly good value – for $75pp, you’ll get to sample nine dishes, including starters, mains, sides, and a dessert.

Roy’s at 45

Roy’s at 45 serves up hearty, tasty tapas alongside wine, beer, and cocktails in its intimate Mayfield bar. The menu changes up pretty frequently, but you can get a taste for what’s on offer with the $49pp banquet – a damn good deal if you ask us.

Rustica

Rustica’s $72pp banquet menu showcases its signature dishes in its spectacular waterfront dining room. The four-course menu, including the restaurant’s iconic Kleftico lamb shoulder, is full of dishes to savour, and represents incredible value, considering the lamb shoulder is usually $85 for two people.

Sapphire Indian Restaurant

We often leave Sapphire Indian Restaurant wishing we could have tried more of its comprehensive menu. If you’ve got a bigger group, its three banquet menus are the way to do this – with option one starting at $44.90pp, it’s an economically-savvy way to try plenty of dishes by one of Newcastle’s best Indian restaurants.

Scottie’s

While you might know Scottie’s for its excellent seafood takeaway, did you know it offers a share plate menu for when you’re in the mood for a sit-down feast? Designed for groups of six or more, expect dishes like salt and chilli squid, a sambal lobster milk bun, and king prawn pancake with XO sauce for $85pp.

The Edwards

The Edwards has become a much-loved haunt in Newcastle West since its inception, known for its fun atmosphere and cracking menu. The Eddie’s Feast ($75pp) is like a greatest hits album, offering up menu favourites so that there’s no thinking on your behalf, only enjoyment.

The Greek Taverna

The Greek Taverna might just be one of Newcastle’s few remaining hidden gems. The no-frills restaurant in Hamilton serves up authentic Greek food on Friday and Saturday nights, and it always hits the spot. The banquets are incredible value, with eight ($40pp), ten ($45pp), and 12-course ($50pp) options available. Don’t miss the loukoumades for dessert.

TINTA Belmont

TINTA Belmont’s chef banquet is everything we could ask for in a banquet menu. For $69pp, and for a minimum of two people, eat Sydney rock oysters, Vannella burrata, sourdough, cured Hiramasa kingfish, baby cos salad, Portuguese half chicken or grilled market fish, charred broccolini, and a chocolate pot for dessert. With so much variation for such a good price, you can’t go wrong.
