Local Carrington favourite, The Criterion Hotel, is now available for exclusive hire for private events and functions - 40ths, 50ths, engagements - you name it - you can have the whole pub!

From Monday 19th February, the venue will take an extended break from day-to-day trading, as renovations get underway on the accommodation upstairs from the hotel.

The classic Aussie pub nestled in Carrington has always been about bringing people together for beers, good food or both - but for 2024, the focus will shift to private hire and special events including live music.

The team are ready to guide customers through menus, food & beverage packages, and bar tabs - and no space is off limits. Take over the Beer Garden, the Private Dining room, or the whole joint, as co-owner Luciano Cruz explains,

‘We know how to throw a good party at The Cri, and often get requests to hire the whole pub. It’s a great size to cater to up to 150 and with perfect spaces for all occasions we’re pumped to be able to offer your friendly local for exclusive hire.’

The private hire and special events focus comes as a by-product of the renovations upstairs and the interruption in trade that might arise. Coupled with the fact that the pub is often fielding requests to hire the whole venue, the team decided this was the perfect opportunity to not only give the people what they want, but also keep the party vibes going whilst it's closed. 

Every event booked will get the entire pub for the duration of their booking, that means no concurrent events will run across different spaces on the same day or evening. Giving your event that feeling of intimacy which venue offers - it's the perfect size to have a long table private dinner for 30 in the dining room, an engagement, a charity or a roaring party that takes over all the spaces for 150. 

When it comes to hiring the Cri there is no hire fee attached to any event - hire fee is FREE - rather each event will attract a minimum spend depending on the day of hire. The Criterion will supply all staff to operate the bar and kitchen and there are different food and beverage packages available, including classic canapes, open fire BBQ, an Italian Feast - whatever it is, they can do it. 

Guests are also welcome to bring in their own food, however beverages must be purchased through the venue.
