Cafe Inu

A bite size taste of Japanese in Carrington

Carrington's Café Inu all came together pretty quickly. Owners Peter and Miwa spotted the big empty tin shed on Denison St and immediately knew it would make for the perfect café and catch up venue. After some paper shuffling, a bit of renovating and the putting together a tasty menu, Café Inu opened its doors.Cafe Inu, Carrington Newcastle cafe | HUNTERhunter

The big open space allows for a lot of people, which means a lot of coffee and a lot of food to be made, yet there's no stress or worry here, instead the ladies behind the counter are always smiling, giggling and having a good time. The predominately Japanese team, predominately meaning all but Peter, is the reason for this calm work environment. Locals may be a little lost in translation, with the constant flow of Japanese chatter, but there is no getting lost on the freshly cooked tastes and flavours that stream out of the kitchen.

Miwa takes on the day-to-day running of the café and has created a menu that is mostly Aussie influenced. With all the meals on the menu being made to order and cooked fresh onsite.

Miwa has managed to slip in a couple of Japanese touches here and there. There's even a couple of Japanese flavoured beers in the fridge if you're feeling that way inclined.

If you're wondering where the name Café Inu comes from, well, the word Inu means dog in Japanese and if you're a lover of dogs then Café Inu is going to become your most favourite café. Your furry friends are most welcome to accompany you at the outside tables anytime of the day and are also welcome to befriend Peter and Miwa's very own furry friend, the very adorable Bear.

Café Inu is just the place for a delish breakfast or lunch, and the sort of café you can just relax your afternoon away in. With a jukebox in the corner offering up tunes for 20 cents a pop it will have you lingering a little longer than you expect.
