Cafe Browny's

Some serious coffee has hit Hunter St, and Browny is the man

The coffee gods have smiled down once again on Newcastle, and this time it comes in the long-legged, mullet sporting, hilariously funny shape of Browny. At 876 Hunter Street a hole-in-the-wall café has opened with its tiny window offering some of the best coffee, possibly in the world.

It’s a big call but one we’re happy to make! Browny’s no ordinary barista and getting yourself a coffee at Café Browny’s is not your typical café experience. As Browny explains every coffee gets a double ristretto, unless you ask otherwise, so you can really taste the coffee and the quality of the bean, with consistency always being key.

Having spent years working in some of Sydney’s most prestigious establishments and training under some of the world’s best baristas, including Sean McManus and Shoji Sasa of Single Origin Roasters, Browny has developed more than just passion, he’s seriously in love with the whole art of coffee making.

Coffee lovers will revel in the superior flavours that Café Browny’s is bringing to Hunter St. On our visit a Brazilian blend from Sydney’s Little Marionette was pouring with Browny saying that he’ll be mixing things up regularly so as to keep things interesting for the regulars.

Whilst Café Browny’s might only be a tiny space Browny’s big personality and always-up-for-a-chat approach to business makes for a charming coffee experience. Whether that be a quick takeaway through the window or to linger-a-little-longer in the café space.

Browny has big plans for his little space so be sure to drop in from time to time and say g’day. Be sure to check 876 Hunter Street and Pushing Pansies
