Bocados

Authentic Spanish cuisine on King Street

Bocados has long been a favourite of locals and visitors alike, keen to experience the tapas menu. The 't' word is a pretty common sight on menu boards across Newcastle these days, and whilst we don’t want to take anything away from those offering the small, share plate experience, what the team from Bocados have always worked towards is a truly authentic Spanish Tapas flavours.

A visit, whether it be for lunch or dinner, to Bocados must include churros, those sweet Spanish doughnuts and that caramel dipping sauce. If you're wanting to get into the full Spanish swing of things then order yourself a Horchata. Made fresh from tiger nut it's raw, organic and vegan, and comes with a very unique flavour. Not for everyone but worth a taste.

Preferring something a little sweeter and refreshing, the Granizados is a Spanish take on an icy fruit slushy. It's just ice and seasonal fruit blended together but it's bursting with colour and flavour. So good!

If your lunch always includes a few beers then be sure to order one or two of the Spanish imported varieties that the team have pulled together. It's an impressive collection and one to work through depending on how long your lunch is.

Look out for the Bocados changing lunch menu with an extensive list of lunchtime offerings including some of your favourites alongside some fresh new Spanish dishes. Here's a hint of what you can expect...

Starting with the chilli garlic prawns and cider glazed chorizo with potato salad, it's difficult to stop at just ordering a couple of dishes. If you're extra hungry the grilled squid salad, with tomato and broad bean, served with a mint and sherry dressing is a must, as is the crispy fried white bait.
