Your not so typical wine tasting tour
If like me you love horses and wine but are dubious about mixing the two then I’m about to blow your mind! Murchessons Equine of Pokolbin has teamed up with two of the Hunter’s loveliest boutique wineries to bring you an unforgettable wine experience.
Host horse whisperers Kim and Steve have lived in the Hunter Valley for many years and, in addition to their love of horses, have a combined 30 years of experience in the wine industry. It’s clear they love what they do and even more so, sharing their local knowledge with tour guests.
If it's been a while since you've been on the back of a horse, rest assured there’s a horse for all, or no, skill levels. Kim and Steve put guest safety as a priority and the utmost care is taken to ensure you feel safe and comfortable before setting off. A horse briefing is always undertaken before you get riding so you and your equine mate can become fully acquainted.
Whether you only have a few hours to spare or the whole day, there is a tour for you, starting with;
The Brunch Ride which will have you visiting two boutique wineries. At Wynwood cellar door you’ll be treated to a tour of their wine museum and taste of some of their best drops before saddling up and riding through the vineyards to Hanging Tree Vineyard for an afternoon tasting.
Tour Details: Starts at 11.30am and finishes at 2.00pm | Cost: $175 per person
The Afternoon Trek is a simliar experience, only difference being you’re riding through the vineyards with the sun setting over those stunning Brokenback Mountain ranges.
Tour details: Starts at 2.30pm and finishes at 5.00pm | Cost: $175 per person
and The Equine Wine & Dine Tour, offers the added indulgence of a gourmet lunch or picnic at the very swish voco Kirkton Park and a VIP wine tasting experience at Hanging Tree Vineyard.
Tour details: An all-day affair, starting at 9.30am and finishing at 3.30pm | Cost: $295 per person.
The team at Murchessons also offer pony rides for the kids, individual horse riding lessons and for those who don’t fancy riding, horse therapy, where you can spend some time relaxing with and grooming their beautiful horses in the stables. A truly beautiful way to spend a few hours.
