A short drive from Morpeth, Ducks in the Field High Tea resides in a quaint property in Duckenfield. Having been opened now for almost four years, this high tea has certainly created a name for itself as one of the best in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.
With a career background as a chef, Ellen previously owned a café but admits she much prefers now running the high tea; “you know exactly how much to cook each day, so there is not as much wastage”.
It is the delicious and good quality of food that Ellen believes has made this high tea so successful. And you are sure to get your money’s worth!
Guests are treated to a glass of house made punch, a starter, three different stands, a sorbet, a pana cotta and an option of tea or coffee with the last stand of sweets.
This unique experience is all about the quirky and colourful details, offering BYO and a menu changing seasonally. Ducks in the Field is the perfect venue for a special occasion such as birthdays, a hens party or baby shower.
The beautifully well-kept garden adds to its charm, with the high tea taking place in a previously used granny flat on the property. Open seven days a week, this high tea is not just for the ladies; the guys are welcome as well and it caters for people with all dietary requirements.
