Thomas Wines

Great wines, great views and we love the labels too!

Producing his first vintage in 1997 Thomas Wines has become synonymous with producing exceptional wine, which would explain the entire shelf of Wine trophies at his Pokolbin cellar door.

Guided by one of the Hunter Valley greats, Murray Tyrrell, Andrew spent some 13 years at Tyrrell’s Wines learning the art and intricacies of winemaking. When the time was right Thomas Wines was created, with years of learning from a master putting him in good stead to go out on his own and showcase all that he had learnt.

Focusing on the Hunter Valley’s signature varieties, Semillon and Shiraz, his wines are a true reflection of the great Hunter Valley vines and what the Hunter Valley has become so well known for.

It’s not just the wine experts that rave about Thommo’s wines, his peers are as equally respectful. In 2008 and 2014 Thommo was awarded Hunter Valley Winemaker of the Year rounding out his extensive list of awards from some of the most respected wine shows in the country. 840 medals in total and the count is far from over.

The sleek and minimalist cellar door, located at the corner of Hermitage Road & Mistletoe Lane, keeps you very much focused on the wine. Perhaps the only distraction is the spectacular Hunter Valley views that the cellar door looks out onto and the cheeky, but very knowledgeable, and friendly staff who like to keep the wine tasting experience fun.

And for those who know nothing about wine and are more inclined to buy a bottle because the label looks pretty, then you'll be sucked right in with the 'Two of a Kind' Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, which gets our awesome wine label approval.

For those who do know something about wine you'll be interested to know that the 'Two of a Kind' label was developed to differentiate these wines from the others in Thommo's range, something a bit quirky to show that they are regional blends rather than a straight Hunter Valley (per the rest of his range).
