“I wasn’t born green but my mindset has been that there’s enough sun up there that can we use it, and now H Boutique Hotel would be one of the most self-sustained businesses in the whole country, we have off grid electricity, naturally filtered clean roof harvested rain water and onsite ecosewerage treatment system.”
“The self-sustained concept hasn’t been easy and we’ve learned quite a lot along the way, however, I just couldn’t see that there was any other option.”
“I’ve been visiting the Hunter Valley since I was in my 20’s, so that’s nearly 30 years, and I always thought it would be good to kick back and live here permanently one day. During that time my mum became quite ill, and that’s when my thoughts were activated on the meaning of life, and you reset your mind about what you should be doing. I decided at that point to take a break out of corporate life and make my dream a reality.”
Offering a combination of Studio, 1 and 2 bedroom villas as well as the extra roomy Homestead for larger groups each of the H Boutique rooms have been beautifully styled with Sam explaining he has paid particular attention to areas we often take for granted,
“We have the best beds and pillows, I’ve chosen quality as I know that’s what I like, and I am really fussy. I’ve also tried to keep the zen about the place, a quiet peaceful setting that immediately gives you a relaxed sensation when you arrive.”

“No, not in anyway. Many of our guests aren’t even aware that we are off-the-grid, we’ve built H Boutique in such a way that it’s working with nature not fighting it.”
